SAVANNAH – Paul William Hylbert died Monday, May 12, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Paul was born in Burning Springs, WV, on November 8, 1920, to Christine and Clarence Hylbert. He attended Grade School and High School in Parkersburg, WV where he played Basketball and was a member of the Parkersburg High School Marching Band.
He attended Denison University in Granville, OH where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
In 1942 he was employed by the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. where he obtained a B.A. in Accounting from South Eastern University in night school.
He joined the United States Army in 1944, and served in the European theater as a combat engineer. In 1946, after being discharged from the Army, he returned to Evanston, IL and was employed as an accountant with Culligan Water Conditioning. In 1985, after thirty-nine years of service with Culligan, he retired as Chief Executive Officer and moved to The Landings on Skidaway Island.
Paul is survived by his wife of almost sixty-six years, Charlotte, whom he met at Denison University. They were blessed with four children, son, Paul W. Hylbert, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Katharine, of Denver, CO, daughter, Christine, and son-in-law, Peter Dietze, of Boulder, CO, son, Anthony, of Madison, WI, and a son, Robin, who preceded him in death, and daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Bourbonnais, IL Char and Paul have eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his church and the Lord he served. His almost eighty-eight years of life were filled with joy, a great sense of humor, and a love of his many friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances be made to the Green House Project c/o Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Rd., Savannah, GA 31406.
